Blavatnik School welcomes the next generation of global public sector leaders.
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) class of 2023 arrived in Oxford today, hailing from 58 different countries, for the start of their journey to navigate the challenges of public policy.
The class of 2023 has the highest number of fully funded students in the history of the MPP, with 79% of students receiving full scholarships and 10% receiving partial funding. In total, almost 90% of this year's class of 147 brilliant students are receiving some funding to support their participation in the programme.
The School is committed to ensuring that an applicant’s financial situation will never be a deterrent to applying for the MPP, and we encourage all of those who would like to study with us next year to explore the range of support available.
Diversity in our classrooms – not just nationality but also age, experiences, and background – enriches our cohorts in ways that set the School apart from others, and this year we are thrilled to welcome an exceptional group of future leaders, including:
- the co-founder of a political literacy programme for women in Nepal
- the founder of a not-for-profit to support low-income families and retrenched elderly workers in Singapore
- a diplomat working in Yangon, Myanmar, leading on human rights issues
- a humanitarian working in Syria supporting gender-based violence survivors and at-risk women and girls
- an economist who designed and implemented transformative health system reforms in Nigeria
- a policy and legal adviser to a member of the Parliament of Ukraine
- an elected City Councillor in Brazil representing more than 50,000 citizens
- the inventor and founder of a globally acclaimed anti-cyberbullying technology and anti-hate movement
- a lawyer at the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society working on the national implementation of International Humanitarian Law
- a social entrepreneur and community rights advocate in the agriculture and allied sector in India
- a senior reform advisor at the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance.
And thanks to the incredible generosity of our alumni community, we are also delighted to welcome our inaugural Alumni MPP Scholar, an incredible public servant who designed and implemented a cash transfer scheme benefitting more than 30,000 women in Ecuador.
Applications for the MPP, MSc in Public Policy Research and DPhil in Public Policy are open until Friday 5 January 2024 but we strongly recommend submitting your application before the winter holidays. Through our new Public Policy 1+1 pathway, you can apply to study both the MPP and the MSc.
