Racial equity in government
A dispatch from Brazil
What can governments do to promote more racially equitable outcomes? Join us for a discussion on how to approach this issue across different national and institutional contexts.
The Guide for Antiracist Public Management, written by five authors in Brazil following an immersion at the Blavatnik School, acts as a practical guide for those interested in incorporating a racial equity lens in their work and was based on 16 interviews with civil servants working in this area.
Come celebrate the release of the English e-book version of the Guide, supported by the Lemann Foundation Programme, a research programme at the Blavatnik School.
The event will include a panel discussion about the book with some of the authors, as well as presentations from three MPP alumni. They have addressed racial equity across different policy areas in policy briefs which were developed as part of their summer placements with the Lemann Foundation Programme. The briefs focus on the implementation of fare-free transportation in municipalities, the impact of artificial intelligence initiatives on racial equity in education, and the Brazilian government’s voluntary adoption of Sustainable Development Goal 18 on racial equity.
