Join us as the inaugural Women in Public Leadership Fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government, Elsie Addo Awadzi, in conversation with Professor Emily Jones, reflects on a year of pause, reflection, unlearning, and renewal after years spent leading through overlapping economic and financial crises.

Drawing on experience across central banking, financial regulation, sovereign debt restructuring, and international economic governance, the conversation will explore what it means to step back from high public office in order to think more deeply about leadership, institutions, public service, and the future of governance.

The discussion will reflect on Mrs Addo Awadzi’s work at Oxford over the past year, including contributions to case-based teaching and policy dialogue at the School, engagement with students and faculty, and the development of emerging ideas around leadership systems, institutional resilience, and women’s authority in economic governance through the proposed Women in Economic Governance Initiative (WEGI).

The session will also explore how spaces for reflection, intellectual exchange, and intergenerational dialogue can help shape more resilient and effective public leadership for the future.

The event is followed by a drinks reception.
