Jen Easterly, Visiting Fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government and former Director of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), gave oral evidence to the Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy as part of its inquiry on deterrence in an age of Russian aggression.

The session focused on the role of the NATO alliance and the UK’s position within it, including on conventional and cyber capabilities, nuclear posture and defence investment.
The session followed the UK and EU's announcement of coordinated sanctions against Russia over cyberattacks, which Jen welcomed during the session. She said she was “very pleased to see the actions taken today […] That’s the kind of activity that I think NATO and the UK and our colleagues should be calling out on a more regular basis.”
