Sri Lanka’s 2024 presidential elections disrupted long‑standing political dynamics. Amid a deep political and economic crisis, frustration with the traditional elite fuelled support for a new coalition promising anti‑corruption reforms and systemic change. Yet the party needed to broaden its appeal in minority‑dominated areas ahead of parliamentary elections if it hoped to secure a mandate for its agenda. Could this moment transform Sri Lanka’s entrenched political and ethnic cleavages?
