Dapo Akande, Professor of Public International Law and co-Director of the Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict (ELAC), was nominated today to the United Nations' International Law Commission by the government of the United Kingdom. 

The International Law Commission counts thirty-four members elected on a five-year term. The nomination period opened on 27 October 2020 with deadline 1 June 2021; the election will take place at the seventy-sixth session of the General Assembly, approximately in November 2021.
