An article in Comparative Political Studies by Pepper Culpepper and colleagues, based on research from his Banklash project. They tested whether narratives that portray inequality as the consequence of systemic unfairness increase demands for redistribution via an online survey experiment with 7,426 respondents in Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. As expected, the 'systemic unfairness' narrative treatment significantly increased attitudes favouring redistribution in five of the countries. However, in the US, it had no effect.
