Abstract

This policy brief aims to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to make fiscal reports more accessible and understandable to the public. There is currently a disconnect between information availability and public understanding, and AI chatbots have the potential to bridge that gap by clarifying complex fiscal terminology and facilitating real-time interactions, fostering greater engagement with public finance and enhanced accountability.

The brief proposes a series of recommendations, including the implementation of an internal pilot project for a chatbot, expansion of testing to the community, and methods for ensuring continued operations. Points of attention for implementation are highlighted, such as the need for contextually appropriate strategies to ensure legal compliance and the protection of user data privacy and security.
