biography

Isabel Ruiz is Associate Professor and Fellow in Economics at the Blavatnik School of Government and at Harris Manchester College. Her research falls on the intersection of economic development, labour and political economy, with a particular focus on the economic impacts of forced migration. She is a current academic lead of the ECONFORCED project, a research initiative which provides quantitative evidence on the economic impacts of displacement on host communities, the displaced and the communities of origin. Isabel is also an incoming Associate Editor of Oxford Review of Economic Policy (OxREP).

Prior to joining the Blavatnik School, Isabel was Associate Professor of Political Economy and Director of Studies in Economics in Continuing Education at the University of Oxford and Assistant Professor in Economics at Sam Houston State University. Isabel holds a PhD and MSc in Economics from Western Michigan University in the US and a BA in Economics from Universidad EAFIT, Medellin, Colombia.
