In October 2026, Brazil will hold general elections. Amid complex geopolitical dynamics, domestic fiscal pressures and recent political scandals, Brazilian voters will elect members of Congress, senators, governors and the president, whose new term will begin in January 2027.
Timothy Power, Head of the Social Sciences Division at the University of Oxford, will host the panel on the political landscape and the prospects for the 2026 elections in Brazil. The panel will be chaired by Felipe Krause, Head of Brazilian Studies at the Latin American Centre, University of Oxford, and opened by Anna Petherick, Associate Professor of Public Policy and Director of the Lemann Foundation Programme, Blavatnik School of Government. They will be joined by:

The event is followed by a drinks reception with live music from Fernando Maynard and Karen Asprey, followed by a performance by the Risk Register band.
