Transformational Leadership Fellows

The Transformational Leadership Fellowship is a bespoke programme crafted for a very select number of leaders at the pinnacle of their careers who seek space to reflect on how they might use their strengths towards a broader public mission.

Permanent Secretary Fellows (UK)

The Permanent Secretary Fellowship programme establishes a relationship between a current Permanent Secretary – the most senior civil servant of a government ministry in the UK – and the Blavatnik School, strengthening the links between UK policymakers and public policy researchers.

Heywood Fellows

The Heywood Fellowship is a new visiting fellowship created in memory of Jeremy Heywood, Cabinet Secretary from 2012 to 2018. The purpose is to give a UK Civil Service Permanent Secretary the opportunity to explore issues relating to public service and policy outside of the immediate responsibilities of government duties.

DRC Fellows (China)

The Blavatnik School’s partnership with the Development Research Centre (DRC) of the State Council of China on Knowledge for Development is part of the wider partnership established by the UK Department for International Development with the DRC. The School hosts between five and seven DRC fellows per year over a period of between seven months and a year.

Hong Kong Fellows

Since 2015, this annual programme has welcomed civil servants from the Hong Kong Government. They follow an intensive eight-week programme that has been tailored to help them reach the next level of leadership. Fellows will come away with necessary skills to recognise and effectively analyse critical issues in public sector administration, particularly from a global perspective. Ultimately, they will learn to shape the environment around them to create maximum impact.

The Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice Programme, part of our wider Lemann Foundation partnership, supports Brazilian nationals who are outstanding senior practitioners and academics for a period of study, reflection and engagement with scholars and students at the Blavatnik School of Government.

The Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Fellowship, part of our wider AIG partnership, is awarded each year to an individual from West Africa who has demonstrated distinguished public service. Georgina Wood, former Chief Justice of Ghana, was the most recent holder of the fellowship.

Caixin Fellows (China)

The Caixin Visiting Fellowship Programme is an 8-week senior fellowship at the Blavatnik School of Government. The fellowship provides an opportunity for senior journalists or business managers from Caixin Media to immerse themselves in the intellectual climate and learning environment of the School and the wider University of Oxford through a bespoke engagement programme.
