Abstract
Growing violence against politically active women poses a threat to representative democracy. Research indicates that women in politics face daily online violence, from image-based abuse to rape threats, globally. This report addresses the measurement and mitigation of online violence against women politicians.
Part I discusses measurement methods like gendering datasets and sentiment analysis. Part II explores governmental responses, including legislation and gender-sensitive interventions. Part III highlights support mechanisms from civil society, social media platforms, government institutions, and political parties. Urgent action is needed to ensure the safety and participation of politically active women.
