Omar is a Saudi Rhodes Scholar. Over the past year, he served as a senior economic analyst at Saudi Arabia’s highest economic policymaking body, the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. He has published multiple public policy studies, and collaborated with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning in conducting economic research. As a journalist at Thmanyah for the past four years, Omar covered Middle Eastern economic and geopolitical topics. He graduated from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals with first class honours in software engineering and an AI concentration. He plans to advance evidence-based economic and social reform in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East, with a particular focus on labour market and education reforms.
