Kgotsi Chikane (MPP 2016) recently published "Breaking a Rainbow, Building a Nation: The Politics behind #MustFall Movements". The book details the changing dynamics in youth politics in South Africa and explores why so many young people are shifting away from Mandela's rainbow nation narrative. The book aims to offer a glimpse into the changing political mindset of young South African's that informed protests such as #RhodesMustFall and #FeesMustFall in 2015 and 2016.

Carlos Santiago Guzmán Gutiérrez, an alumnus of the Master of Public Policy and the MSc in Public Policy Research, has received the inaugural Michael Cichon Graduate Award for outstanding master’s thesis in Social Protection. The award recognises his MSc thesis, “Universal Social Protection Schemes in Forced Displacement Settings: Evidence from Colombia.”
