This week, the Blavatnik School is delighted to welcome a new intake of Hong Kong Fellows, as the programme enters its fifth year. The Fellows will be with us for eight weeks, joining selected MPP modules as well as benefiting from a range of bespoke modules, events, seminars and mentoring sessions.
The programme is designed to help civil servants from the Hong Kong government build the skills to effectively analyse critical issues in public sector administration, meanwhile encouraging them to develop a global perspective. This year’s Fellows join us from a range of different backgrounds, from those working in administration and the police force, to engineers, a lawyer and a town planner.
In addition to their School-based studies, the Fellows will visit the town hall to learn about Oxford City Council and the challenges which affect Oxford in particular, enhancing their understanding of local government practices. They will also partake in a field trip to London to visit the Houses of Parliament, as in previous years. These activities, amongst others, will allow the Fellows to gain a greater understanding of the political history and culture of the UK and benefit as much as possible from their time here.
