Dean Ngaire Woods travels to Sâo Paulo and Brasilia this week to talk about the studying options available to students from Brazil, which are provided in association with the Lemann Foundation, and to promote the Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice Programme, which has just opened to applicants.

While in Sâo Paulo, Professor Woods will deliver a lecture titled ‘Integrity in Government in the 21st Century’. Following this, Patrícia Tavares, the inaugural Lemann Visiting Fellow of Practice, will talk on her experience, and discuss the programme at the Blavatnik School.

The Lemann Visiting Fellow of Practice Programme provides an opportunity for a Brazilian senior practitioner or academic to visit the Blavatnik School for 3 or 6 months, to develop their understanding of specific policy issues and solutions in Brazil, and to reflect on practices in other countries.

In Brasilia, Professor Woods is a keynote speaker at the Escola Nacional de Administração Pública (ENAP) event focused on the theme of public policy past, present and future, where she’ll discuss innovations in public policy. Also speaking are Francisco Gaetani, President of ENAP, and Leany Lemos, Government State Secretary of Distrito Federal for Planning, Budget and Management.

Professor Woods will be joined at both events by some of our Brazilian students and alumni, including the inaugural recipients of the Oxford-Lemann Fellowship Scholarships, Vivian Grassi Sampaio, Mariana Castro de Almeida Salles and Vinicius Lindoso (MPP Class of 2014). Current MPP students and Oxford-Lemann Fellows, Joao Francisco Maria, Guilherme da Silva, Jussara Negromonte and Bruno Schettini Goncalves, will also be in attendance.

The Oxford-Lemann Fellowship Scholarships are fully-funded scholarship opportunities for Brazilian students, which were made available thanks to a generous benefaction from the Lemann Foundation in partnership with the Oxford Graduate Scholarship Matched Fund. The aim of these scholarships is to reward university graduates who demonstrate exceptional academic merit and a commitment to social change in Brazil.
