We are delighted to welcome Patrícia Tavares, our inaugural Lemann Visiting Fellow of Practice for this academic year. Patrícia will be in Oxford for the next six months to work with our faculty and students focusing on education policy.

The Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice Programme was launched last September to attract Brazilian nationals who have achieved significant impact through their direct work on policy issues, whether in the public, private or civil society sectors. Through the programme, Fellows spend 3 or 6 months in the Blavatnik School of Government to further develop their understanding of specific policy issues and solutions in Brazil.

With a background in the field of human and organizational development and a particular focus in designing learning experiences, Patrícia will be part of the Blavatnik School’s vibrant community, providing an important link between research and practice, and strengthening the School’s mission to improve government and public policy around the world.

Besides being a member of faculty in two of the biggest business schools in Brazil and a consultant, Patrícia has been a technical advisor to the Secretaria Estadual de Educação (the state secretariat for education) and pedagogical coordinator at HURRA, a not-for-profit that works with PE teachers alongside the local government of São Paulo to develop their capabilities of teaching values through sport - in particular rubgy.

The Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice Programme is part of the School’s global network of scholar-practitioners. We expect to advertise details of the second fellowship, including the area of policy research, from next term (more information at the link below).
