The Blavatnik School of Government is launching ‘Leading AI through co-creation', a new executive AI leadership programme equipping non-technical leaders with the knowledge and practical frameworks to develop more effective, sustainable and responsible AI systems through co-creation.

Across civil society, industry and government, leaders are increasingly being asked to commission, govern and evaluate AI systems. They are being asked to build ethical AI. Yet they may have limited visibility into how those systems are developed, where consequential design choices are made, and how affected communities and stakeholders can improve those decisions.

Designed for senior leaders and practitioners responsible for AI strategy, governance, development or implementation, the programme will explore how AI systems are built and why co-creation matters to their success. Participants will learn how to meaningfully involve communities and stakeholders in the development process and how to lead genuinely participatory approaches to AI.

Philippa Webb, Professor of Public International Law and co-director of the programme, said:
