The global MPP Class of 2012 have been contributing over the last month to an online series of articles in response to the September 2012 report by the Global Commission on Elections, Democracy and Security, on improving the integrity of elections. The series is curated by the School and features contributions from students on the Master of Public Policy course as well as guest posts from Oxford and Cambridge scholars in politics and international relations. Students have drawn on their own experiences of democracy from around the world to respond to and build upon the report.
You can read the blog series on Oxford's Politics in Spires platform.
The series culminated in a panel event as part of the Blavatnik School’s Challenges of Government conference between 2:15 – 3:30pm on 7 December 2012. The plenary, moderated by Gideon Rachman of the Financial Times, began with a keynote and presentation of the Global Commission’s report by Louise Arbour, President of International Crisis Group and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The floor was then opened to MPP students and the audience to debate strategies for supporting democratic integrity.
