Alumnus Daulet Serikbay (MPP 2013) is now working with the Kazakh British Technical University (KBTU), where he played an instrumental role in creating a merger between KBTU and Kazakh National Research Technical University (KazNRTU), the largest technical university in all of Kazakhstan. He provides an update about his recent career achievements:
In late December 2015, the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan proposed to the Rector of the Kazakh British Technical University to take over leadership of Kazakh National Research Technical University (KazNRTU), the largest technical university in all of Kazakhstan. I helped our Rector prepare the presentation of the merger plan for his meeting with Head of State, who has legal authority to appoint rectors of all national universities. My ideas helped with the ensuring the successful consolidation of the two top technical universities of the nation. In January, I was appointed Director of one of the institutes at KazNRTU named International Postgraduate Institute "Excellence PolyTech". For the last month, I have been busy reforming it. I envision it as the center of excellence in education and research for the top KazNRTU postgrad students. I am hoping to emulate some of the excellence features of the U.S. honors colleges and the Blavatnik School by establishing the Honors School with an aim to provide exclusive training and knowledge sharing for the select students at both KBTU and KazNRTU.
