The Blavatnik School of Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Kitteridge as new Professor of Practice in Public Policy, following a distinguished career in New Zealand’s public service.
Rebecca has previously held roles including Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Director-General of Security and Chief Executive of the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service, and Secretary of the Cabinet, most recently serving as the Deputy Public Service Commissioner.
Rebecca's experience ranges from constitutional issues and legal compliance, which builds on her nine-year legal career, to ethics, government performance, security and international partnerships. She was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2014 and received the Public Policy Award at the New Zealand Women of Influence Awards in 2017.
This appointment reflects the Blavatnik School’s commitment to being an engine of public service expertise, bringing world-leading research to global policymakers and practitioners for a world better led, better served and better governed.
Professor Ngaire Woods, founding Dean of the Blavatnik School, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Rebecca Kitteridge to the School as our newest Professor of Practice in Public Policy. Her leadership and deep expertise will be invaluable in enriching both our teaching and research, and in helping governments meet today’s pressing challenges with insight, integrity, and innovation.”
Rebecca Kitteridge said:
“I am thrilled to be joining the Blavatnik School of Government. As an alumnus of the School’s Executive Public Leaders Programme, I have experienced first-hand the quality of the teaching, and its ability to deepen and strengthen leadership capability in government.
Public service, organisational leadership, and building international connections are at the heart of both my own career and the Blavatnik School’s mission. I am looking forward to contributing to this work and equipping public leaders around the world with the tools they need to succeed.”
Rebecca will formally join the School in early November.
