Alumnus recognised as remarkable young leader in British Vogue

Edison Broce Urriola (MPP 2015) was included in British Vogue's list of eight remarkable young leaders around the world. The article highlights his commitment to environmental issues through his work as an MP in Panama. He created the country's first recycling law in 2018 has put forward another bill to reduce its dependency on single-use plastics by 2021.

Findings on immigration and the welfare state

Higher immigration tends to increase welfare spending, but its overall fiscal impact is usually small and can be positive, according to Isabel Ruiz and colleagues in the Oxford Review of Economic Policy. Meanwhile, public attitudes toward taxation and welfare redistribution are closely tied to perceptions and feelings about immigration.
