Alumnus named on list of 30 young changemakers

Edison Broce Urriola (MPP 2015) was included in the Financial Times' list of 30 young changemakers for his work in politics. The article highlighted Edison's environmental advocacy, speaking out against illegal deforestation and promoting the use of electric vehicles in Panama.

Findings on immigration and the welfare state

Higher immigration tends to increase welfare spending, but its overall fiscal impact is usually small and can be positive, according to Isabel Ruiz and colleagues in the Oxford Review of Economic Policy. Meanwhile, public attitudes toward taxation and welfare redistribution are closely tied to perceptions and feelings about immigration.
