Yosuke is from Japan and has been working at JICA, Japan's official development assistance agency, since 2013. He has long been interested in mathematics and physics, which led him to study civil engineering at university. During his university day, traveling across various countries as a backpacker inspired his strong interest in international development. Yosuke further explored this interest in graduate school by researching development cooperation through sports and its impact on local communities. At JICA, he has been engaged in infrastructure projects and development finance in Africa and the Middle East, and has also worked on policy through a secondment to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He currently serves as a deputy director for Southern Africa, working on Japanese Yen loan projects and regional strategies. Yosuke is passionate about promoting flexible and impactful development cooperation. Outside work, he enjoys football and looks forward to watching the Premier League in the UK.
