Yazmín is an economist from Mexico with a deep commitment to using public policy as a tool for social transformation. She grew up in Guanajuato, where she received the Bicentenary Generation scholarship, awarded to the top 1,000 students in the country, an experience that instilled in her a lifelong sense of responsibility toward her community. After graduating, Yazmín joined the Mexican Central Bank, where she has spent the past seven years working at the forefront of financial innovation. She has led the authorisation of fintech institutions, shaped the regulatory framework for payment initiation services, and contributed to the design of Mexico's Central Bank Digital Currency. Her policy interests centre on regulating innovative financial services to ensure that technological progress serves the common good. This is not an abstract ideal: in 2025, the Mexican payment system processed over 6 times the GDP, and the fintechs she has helped regulate are now central to this ecosystem.
