Winfred Mwende Mutinda is an award-winning energy professional, passionate about the eradication of energy poverty and promoting gender equality in the energy sector in Kenya.
Winifred currently works as a Transmission System Planning Engineer at KETRACO. She holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Nairobi. She is a Mandela Washington Fellow 2019 hosted by the University of California-Davis. Winifred is also a dedicated STEM mentor who encourages young girls to pursue STEM-related careers. She serves as a member of the Energy Sector Gender Committee and the Least Cost Power Development Plan (LCPDP) committee.
She is the Founder of Tubariki Foundation Africa, a non-profit organisation aimed at fostering socio-economic transformation in communities. Her key policy interests are in sustainable infrastructural development, energy, climate change and gender equality.
After the MPP, Winifred aspires to be at the forefront of effective policymaking aimed at solving multidimensional societal challenges in Africa.
Winifred is a Chevening Scholar.
