biography

I have a keen interest in the relationship between society, people and technology, especially the intersection between technology and human rights. I am also passionate about race, gender, sexuality and identity and how these interact with government policies.

I have worked on Facebook's Europe, Middle East and Africa Public Policy team and, most recently, at a non-profit delivering anti-oppression and social justice education. As a former civil servant for the UK Government, I have worked on a number of high-profile policy areas, including publishing standards for public-facing digital services, developing a cross-government strategy to support gender and LGBTQIA+ equality, project managing the EU Emissions Trading System, and supporting Ministers and Secretaries of State.

I have extensive experience working with civil society organisations as a trustee, volunteer and speaker, and am founder (and former president) of the University of Manchester's Sri Lankan Society.
