Valter Gomes is from Salvador, Brazil, where he grew up in a low-income community and developed a strong commitment to public service. He holds a degree in Science and Technology from the Federal University of Bahia and has spent the last eight years working in the social sector. HIs work focuses on connecting civil society organisations with private and public investment to reduce poverty and promote social impact. He has led policy and community development initiatives that support vulnerable territories through cross-sector partnerships. Valter Gomes is particularly interested in poverty alleviation strategies through cash transfer programmes, graduation approaches and long-term investment in communities. He looks forward to deepening strategies for inclusive development at Oxford. Valter Gomes is a Chevening scholar.
