biography

Tumentsengel was born and raised in Mongolia, received his secondary education in Russian, and pursued higher education in Japan. After studying for a BA in Accounting and an MA in Economics, Tumentsengel began his career in the financial sector, starting as a financial analyst and later transitioning to a central banker. His commitment to public service was inspired by his parents' life and career and driven by his childhood dream to contribute to the development of his home country.

During the last seven years at the Bank of Mongolia, Tumentsengel engaged in aspects of central banking ranging from public economic education to monetary policy formulation and policy communications. His aim in Oxford is to expand his expertise beyond the financial sector, equipping himself to effectively address broader and pressing policy challenges. Good governance of public institutions in resource-rich countries and utilising technology to tackle inequality and climate change are his particular interests.

Tumentsengel is a Public Service BSG Scholar.
