Although Tom has spent most of his career focused on the climate crisis, he originally trained as a component engineer at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). He spent five years working on their first electric car while studying automotive engineering and sustainability at the University of Warwick, before developing the company’s net zero strategy. Whilst at JLR, Tom founded a business developing an AI tool to empower people to make lower carbon food choices. Hooked on decarbonising the food system, he led environmental sustainability at a large food company, working with government, industry and academia to accelerate environmental action. Outside of work, Tom was Head of the UK’s 2024 Youth Delegation to the G20, and now coordinates the UK’s youth delegations to the G7, G20 and COP, ensuring young people can make their voice heard. Tom is chair of an environmental organisation in Coventry, supporting the council to improve the city he has made his home.
