Taniguchi Masaki is Dean and Professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy and Professor at the Graduate Schools for Law and Politics, the University of Tokyo. His main research interests are electoral studies and political communication.
He has published numerous books, including Democracy in Japan (SUNY Press), Representative Democracy in Japan (University of Tokyo Press), Politics and Mass Media (University of Tokyo Press), and The Theory of Party Support (Iwanami Shoten).
His English-language work has appeared in journals including International Political Science Review, Political Communication, Electoral Studies, and Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties.
He is President of the Nippon Institute for Research Advancement (NIRA) and has served as a commissioner of Japan’s National Commission for the Management of Political Funds, appointed by the National Diet.
