biography

I am a cross-platform journalist with experience reporting on subjects from politics to business, from Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Brunei, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

I have worked with Channel NewsAsia as their Malaysia Correspondent, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Associated Press, the BBC and other international newsrooms. In Malaysia, I helped establish the country’s first independent online news channel.

Notable events I have covered include the Christchurch mosque shootings, the Sri Lanka terror attacks, the disappearance of flight MH370, the assassination of Kim Jong Nam, the multi-billion dollar 1MDB scandal, and Malaysia's first government-changing polls. My work also involves interviewing various personalities from Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad to Usain Bolt.

I am interested in how the press can responsibly contribute to public discourse and democratic processes through informed reporting, particularly in countries like mine where there is a high demand for transparency and accountability.
