Sophie is from New York City. She attended Colgate University and studied Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics, where she wrote an honours thesis examining the political and legal battle in the U.S. over voting rights and election procedures and the resulting threat to democratic resilience. After graduating, Sophie worked at the White House as Vice President Kamala Harris' Associate Director of Scheduling, where she had the opportunity to travel with the Vice President to 300+ campaign events in the 107 days before the presidential election in 2024. She then served as the Special Assistant to Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, supporting her role as Chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. At Oxford, Sophie is excited to continue studying democratic theory with a focus on climate change, youth voter engagement, and democratic resilience, to explore the impact of climate anxiety - and loss of hope - on democratic participation among young voters.
