Shuntaro is a government official in the Japanese Financial Services Agency (JFSA), committed to maintaining financial stability for the sake of stable world economic growth. At the University of Tokyo, Shuntaro studied how the 2008 global financial crisis happened and how it could be prevented in the future.
After graduating with a degree in economics, Shuntaro worked at a private bank and enhanced his practical knowledge of risk management. At the JFSA, Shuntaro formulates new regulations aimed at preventing financial crises and has mainly been in charge of implementation of a new prudential standard, Basel 3. He has published a new regulation regarding crypto-assets.
At the School, Shuntaro hopes to develop his skills in formulating unprecedented policies to address emerging risks. His key interests are regulatory frameworks of digital currencies and sustainable finance.
