Shubham is from Mukilteo, Washington State, USA, and studied neuroscience and anthropology at the University of Washington. His work has taken him from caring for residents as a certified nursing assistant to analysing overdose deaths at the King County Medical Examiner Office. He conducted research in health policy, immunology, and neuroscience and served on state and county health advisory bodies. He also founded Narcare, a public health nonprofit that expands access to overdose education and emergency health resources. At Oxford, Shubham hopes to build on these experiences as a Rhodes Scholar while studying public health policy, health education, homelessness, substance use, and equitable access to care. In the future, he aspires to become a physician and policymaker who brings the experiences of patients and communities into the design of stronger and more responsive public systems.
