Sachiko is joining the Blavatnik School of Government after five years of work experience at the Japanese Ministry of Finance.
Sachiko's policy interests mainly focus on public economics, fiscal policy and international finance. She grew up in both steadily developed Japan and rapidly emerging China, which has intrigued her in questions of why different countries grow differently and how the global economy can develop more efficiently and sustainably.
Sachiko majored in economics during her undergraduate studies, concentrating on macroeconomics and development economics. As a civil servant, she has both worked on domestic macroeconomic policy analyses and contributed to international financial conferences including G7 and G20.
Sachiko holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tokyo and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. Sachiko is a Japanese Government Long-Term Fellowship Program Scholar.
