biography

Roderick McGlynn is a political researcher working in the UK House of Commons where he advises the SNP frontbench on foreign and defence policy.

In addition to five years’ experience in frontline domestic politics, Roderick also has an MA (Hons) in International Relations from the University of St Andrews and an MSc in Global Political Economy from Birkbeck, University of London – the latter gained through part-time evening study alongside his work in Parliament.

Before coming to London, Roderick lived and worked in his hometown of Edinburgh as well as in Bonn, Berlin and Mexico City.

Roderick is interested in the challenge of building domestic resilience to contemporary threats to national security in an increasingly polarised political environment.

He also looks forward to learning from professors and students from around the world about how different global and local actors have tackled the policy challenges that will define the twenty-first century, such as arms control, online harm, and climate change. Roderick is a Political Leadership Scholar.
