Pedro Freitas is A Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the What Works Hub for Global Education. He holds a PhD in economics from Nova SBE. His research focus on topics of Economics of Education and Human Capital, addressing issues such as: teacher quality, teacher labour markets, standardised and teacher assessment, students’ aspirations, or students’ migration flows.
He participated on several policy-oriented projects on topics such as: the forecast of teacher shortages, socioeconomic based achievement measures or policies to recover from the learning losses after the covid-19 pandemic.
He was a visiting research student at department of economics of University College of London (UCL) and a researcher at the Economics Department of Banco de Portugal. He is an external affiliated member of the Nova SBE Economics of Education Knowledge Center. He was previously a Teaching Assistant and Lecturer of undergraduate and Master courses, such as Economics of Education, Seminar in European Economics, International Economics and Intermediate and Advanced Macroeconomics.
