biography

Born in New York but raised in Lagos, Kay has experienced life in both developing and developed economies, fueling his interest in promoting inclusive and sustainable development through public policy.

Over the past decade, Kay worked in international organizations and government to narrow social and economic gaps. At the World Bank, he focuses on small states, highly vulnerable to external shocks like climate change and natural disasters due to their size and capacity constraints. He also worked on issues around women's economic empowerment, UN partnerships, and poverty and inequality policies at the World Bank. Previously, Kay led efforts at the UN to raise awareness to tackle the global health threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). He also worked on drug policy in the Obama White House.

Kay holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the City College of New York and a Master's Degree in Foreign Policy and Human Rights from Columbia University. In his free time, he enjoys biking and exploring history. While his dancing may be questionable, his culinary skills make up for it.

Kay is an Eisenhower Global Scholar.
