Nicholas was raised in Singapore, and has been educated in the United States and Europe. Having over eight years' experience in Singapore's government sector, Nicholas has taken on several roles, including a policy research analyst and a data scientist. He currently leads a team of software engineers towards a common goal to make Singapore a better place to live.

As both a technologist and policy practitioner, his key policy interests revolves around the governance and regulation of artificial intelligence. This interest in AI spans from the regulation surrounding testing and use of self-driving cars, to the risks and perils of widespread AI-generated disinformation. Nicholas is a Singapore Government scholar.
