biography

Nicholas completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History at the University of Melbourne. He currently works as a Senior Associate in the Department of Premier and Cabinet (NSW) within the team working to implement the recommendations of the 2022 Independent and Parliamentary Flood Inquiries.

Prior to this, he worked at the Australian Red Cross in emergency services, aged care, and strategy, where he was extensively involved in the humanitarian responses to natural disasters including the 2019-2020 bushfires, the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 and 2022 NSW Floods. Nicholas serves as an Infantry Soldier within the Australian Army Reserve and maintains a strong interest in humanitarian operations. Nicholas hopes his studies in public policy will contribute to making Australia more resilient to natural disasters.

Outside of work, Nicholas writes on a wide range of topics, primarily arts and culture, and hosts a podcast called Bloom, where he interviews guests with a focus on biography, oral history, news, and current affairs.
