Morrell is from Canada, and focused towards justice and compassion. As a multi-award-winning public servant with more than a decade in policy and government she asked herself: what can I do, where I am, with what I have to give? Through work with Canada’s federal ministries dedicated to foreign affairs and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples she has several answers. Morrell has negotiated a historic Aboriginal title agreement with the Haida Nation, fixed the criminal code so victims of sexual offences can speak about their abuse without being criminalized, bound all UN peacekeeping countries to new gender-responsive standards for uniformed personnel, and consulted over 1000 youth on Canada’s first Youth Policy. She regards public service as a long-term commitment to solve hard problems and imagine better futures. At Oxford, Morrell is focused on understanding the evolving technological and economic landscape to make that possible. Service takes many forms, she intends to serve the public good as long as feasible.
