Zaidi is the deputy director of the Foreign Exchange Policy Department of Bank Negara Malaysia, primarily focuses on shaping and implementing strategies, policies, and initiatives for foreign exchange policy in Malaysia and aiming to enhance economic competitiveness while safeguarding financial stability and the value of the national currency, ringgit. Zaidi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Michigan State University.

With nearly 16 years of service at the Bank, he began his career as an economist in the Economics Department and also served in the International Department. He was posted to the International Monetary Fund, USA for two and a half years as the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of the Southeast Asia Voting Group, where he advised the Executive Director on strategy decisions at IMF Executive Board Meetings.
