biography
Michiko is a Japanese government official. She completed the MPP at the School and as part of her MPP summer project, she researched the effectiveness of community-led food delivery services for the elderly in remote areas in addressing issues of food access and loneliness as it relates to the increasingly serious problems in Japan of social care for remote areas, life fulfillment among the elderly, and social inclusivity. This is all against the backdrop of an aging population, youth concentration in urban areas, and rural depopulation. Previously Michiko worked in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan, where she focused on policy formulation in various fields, including livestock disease control, international trade negotiations and the reform of a B to B transaction system to ensure appropriate profit distribution throughout the entire food supply chain. Michiko's key policy interest lies in enhancing food security by strengthening the resilience of the food supply chain. Michiko is a Japanese Government Program Scholar
