Mehreen is a career civil servant from Pakistan Administrative Service, originally from Village Dera Basti in District Bahawalpur, South Punjab. Over the past nine years, she has served in diverse governance roles, including as Additional Deputy Commissioner Attock, Additional Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory and as the youngest member of the National Commission on the Status of Women. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English Literature and a Master’s degree in English Literature. Mehreen's professional journey has shown her how political exigencies and systemic barriers undermine the fair allocation of scarce public resources. At the School, Mehreen aims to explore how technology can help developing countries in South Asia navigate complex governance challenges, particularly those intensified by the radicalisation of domestic and regional politics. Mehreen is a Joint Japan/World Bank scholar.
