Mazhar is a Bangladeshi policy enthusiast with nearly five years of experience working at the intersection of democracy, governance, human rights and technology. HIs focus lies in people-centric technology policy, particularly its impact on elections, violence and civic engagement. He has contributed to projects with FCDO, UKAID, USAID, IFES, The Asia Foundation, Meta, IDEA and the Dangerous Speech Project where he cultivated a strong emphasis on evidence-based policymaking, implementation and measuring impact. His academic background in Political Science from the University of Dhaka provides a deep understanding of the interconnection among politics, policy and technology. He has directly observed how lacking robust monitoring, learning and evaluation mechanisms on digital platforms fuels misinformation, intensifies electoral and communal tensions and escalates violence. This experience drives his future focus on evidence-based technology policy to promote safer and democratic online spaces. Mazhar is a Felix scholar.
