biography

Maya Nakagawa is from Japan and studied law at Kyoto University before starting to work for the Japanese Government in 2014.

Maya has been engaged in the field of public management, such as improving the policy evaluation system in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and administrative organisation reform in the Cabinet Secretariat.

She is interested in exploring how to measure and enhance the performance of public organisations and how to motivate public sector employees and revitalise the organisations.

In particular, in Japan, government resources are expected to decrease due to the declining population, while the needs of the public administration are becoming more complex. It is more and more important for administrative organisations to collaborate with private sectors or NGOs to confront these situations. Maya is particularly keen on public management to facilitate the successful implementation of such collaborations.
