Born in Lima, Peru, Pilar holds a degree in economics from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and for the last ten years has been working in the financial inclusion and education field to impact Peruvian financial lives.
Pilar's professional journey started at the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos. She worked at the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance, and Private Pension Funds, where she developed and led financial education programmes aimed mainly at teachers, women, and the vulnerable population. Pilar also facilitated articulation between the public, the private sector, and academia for the National Policy of Financial Inclusion. She is a member of IMPACTA, a network to attract young people to work in the public sector in Peru, and has been a scholar for the Women Emerging Leaders program given by LSE and the Santander Bank. In 2024, she was awarded a Female Emerging Leader in Financial Inclusion in Latin America by Andares Mujeres.
