biography

Madeleine McGregor is from Tasmania, Australia. Her key interests are in international and human rights law, and she hopes to strengthen human rights in Australia and affect Australia’s impact on human rights abroad.

Madeleine completed a Bachelor of Laws (Hons 1) and Bachelor of Economics at the Australian National University, as a Tuckwell Scholar with prizes in International Dispute Resolution and International Human Rights Law.

At university, she interned with the Aboriginal Legal Service and Kimberley Community Legal Service and established multiple community organisations addressing gendered and cultural-based disadvantages. Enjoying advocacy, Madeleine also competed in several national and international mooting competitions.

Since graduating, Madeleine has spent six months working at Herbert Smith Freehills in the disputes practice group. She is looking forward to meeting and learning from others also inspired to make a difference.

Madeleine is a Rhodes Scholar.
