Originally from Chicago in the US, Lauren is a recent graduate of Harvard College where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in chemistry, minoring in Spanish and Global Health and Health Policy. As an aspiring physician in underdeveloped countries, Lauren is an avid infectious disease researcher and has collaborated with a Harvard/MIT lab to develop STI diagnostic tests for West African health clinics. She helps run a nonprofit organisation in rural Uganda and has published a guidebook normalising conversations about menstrual health.
Lauren studied pharmacology at the University of Oxford, supported by a Rhodes Scholarship. In the MPP Lauren hopes to grasp the nuances of voluntary policy uptake to inform her future work as a physician, through which she wishes to build local capacity by designing treatments and policies in collaboration with communities themselves.
